O Polêmico Rock conversou com László Páll, (vocalista / guitarrista) de uma das bandas mais promissoras de Death Metal da Hungria, o Sin Of God. Confira a entrevista logo abaixo.
Polêmico Rock - Fala galera! É realmente um grande prazer estar aqui entrevistando a banda húngara de Death Metal Sin Of God. Então, me contem um pouco sobre a história do Sin Of God.
László Páll - É um grande prazer que você tenha nos chamado para uma entrevista. Sin Of God existe desde 2004. Os fundadores eram Balázs Botyánszki (baterista), Tamás Páll (baixista), Gábor Páll (vocalista) e eu (László Páll, guitarrista), no município de Csongrád, Hungria. Agora nós somos apenas dois da formação remanescente, eu e Balázs. Tamás (baixista) deixou a banda em 2007 e Attila Kálnay juntou-se à nós. Neste line-up havia um guitarrista, um baixista, um vocalista e um baterista. Eu e Balázs queríamos fazer uma mudança, algo diferente, pois acreditamos que uma banda de Death Metal deve haver dois guitarristas e por isso acrescentar mais um ao line up. Depois disso tivemos alguns momentos ruins; muitos problemas com o vocalista (envolvimento com drogas) e isso impossibilitou que continuássemos do jeito que estava. Portanto e infelizmente ele saiu da banda, ou seja, o substituímos. Szabolcs Molná entra como novo guitarrista e traz novos elementos sonoros, caracterizando uma nova era para o Sin Of God, com solos completamente doentios e um excelente som característico dele mesmo. Posteriormente Attila Kálnay’s abandona a banda por motivos pessoais, e Vörös assume o posto, trazendo uma melhor dinâmica e multiplicidade ao som. Por fim, o atual line up se encontra desta forma: Szabolcs Molnár (guitarrista/solo), László Páll (guitarrista/vocalista), Ferenc Vörös (baixista) e Balázs Botyánszki (baterista).
Polêmico Rock - “Satan Embryo” é o ´primeiro lançamento do Sin Of God, correto? Me fale um pouco sobre ele e como o público tem reagido ao mesmo.
László Páll - Bom … na verdade não. Nós tivemos uma primeira Demo com três canções, que foi gravado em Szeged, Hungria. Mas nós não gostamos da sonoridade, portanto nós não mostramos à ninguém. Talvez só o Gorzone Radio Show tenha escutado, e depois tenha chamado a gente em Budapest para uma entrevista. Mas o ”Satan Embryo” foi o primeiro lançamento que nos colocou no mercado, aos olhos das pessoas. Este EP nasceu com a ajuda de István Simon (engenheiro de som) que nos fez mostrar o nosso melhor possível, no estúdio ”No Silence”. Acho que fizemos acontecer. A verdade é que nós nem divulgamos tanto o trabalho. A capa do EP nem era esse crânio com a serpente, e sim uma foto editada da banda. A coisa ficou mais séria quando publicamos o EP no blog "Death Metal Invasion". ”Satan Embryo” ficou em segundo lugar na Rádio "Chopswalk 911", e depois de duas semanas ficou no Top 10 por um mês.
Polêmico Rock - E realmente curto bastante ambas as artes de capa do EP ”Satan Embryo”. Mas eu ainda prefiro a vermelha, com um crânio e uma serpente. Mas enfim, porque vocês mudaram a capa do disco?
László Páll - Não há uma razão em especial para termos mudado a arte do disco. Essa arte da serpente com o crânio foi feita por Balázs. Mas quando Vöri se juntou a banda, também passamos a ter um grande designer gráfico na banda, que acabou criando um logo legal para a banda, que agora esta senso exibido para o mundo. Nós vendemos todos os EP`s com esta arte antiga, e portanto, por agora, sentimos que tínhamos que ter uma arte que pudesse ser associada literamente com um feto de Satã. Por isso nós a mudamos.
Polêmico Rock - Podemos esperar um full lenght do Sin Of God? Quais são os planos futuros da banda?
László Páll - Essa é uma questão bem recente. Um selo austríaco esteve muito interessado em nosso som, e por isso gravaremos em breve nosso disco no estúdio “No Silence”, em fevereiro de 2012. Nós decidimos que teremos dez novas músicas no novo disco, sendo que já tocamos seis dessas canções ao vivo, e teremos outras novas quatro canções. Felizmente, a arte do disco está foda! Nós já temos até mesmo o título das canções, mas não falaremos nada até o final das gravações. Depois de tudo pronto lançaremos o nosso disco em alguns selos, não somente o austríaco, e depois dar continuidade aos planos com shows ao redor do mundo, e quem sabe no Brasil.
Polêmico Rock - Quais são as influências do Sin of God? Eu associei muito o som de vocês com do Nile (entenda isso como um elogio).
László Páll - Nós escutamos muito tipo de música. Nós temos fans de Nile, Origin, Necrophagist, Crypstosy, Dying Fetus. Há algumas outras bandas que nós curtimos. Por exemplo, eu curto bastante o Suffocation, Brain Drill e os brasileiros do Krisiun. Das bandas novas, gosto do Turbid North e Benighted. Vöri gosta de algo puxado ao Gothic/Doom Metal, e Szabolcs curte algo puxado ao Black Metal. Enfim, podemos escutar qualquer estilo de música, desde que as composições sejam bem elaboradas.
Polêmico Rock - Eu não sei quanto ao cenário underground da Hungria, mas aqui no Brasil é bem complicado de viver como músico, apesar de ainda sim termos muitos deles (risos) e termos muitos materiais lançados também. Mas enfim, me conte um pouco sobre o cenário underground da Hungria.
László Páll - A vida musical aqui é bem underground. Difícil. Todos possuem trabalho em paralelo, pois ninguém ganha dinheiro com música. Nós temos muitas bandas talentosas aqui, embora a maioria seja Metacore/Deathcore, muitas delas estão lá pela moda. Infelizmente, algumas não são bandas de Death Metal de verdade. Mas temos, por exemplo, a banda Gutted, que faz um som Death Metal honesto. A verdade é que as pessoas não ligam ou mesmo não ficam felizes quando alguma banda consegue chegar ao “sucesso”. Não há cooperação. Grandes agências húngaras não estão interessadas em Death Metal. Temos
Polêmico Rock - Como acontece o processo de composição das músicas do Sin Of God?
László Páll - Isso tem acontecido de diversas formas. O processo de composição é um trabalho meu e de Balázs. Na maior parte dos casos eu trago um riff, e vamos colocando o andamento da bateria de acordo com os riffs. Se isso soar legal, deixamos. Do contrário, largamos de lado. Assim nasceu o ”Satan Embryo”, e a música auto intitulada do disco, uma das mais pedidas no show. A canção intitulada ”Bloodlust”, por exemplo, talvez seja a canção que teve mais rearranjamentos, e talvez ainda não esteja totalmnte acabada.
Polêmico Rock - E se tratando das letras, como acontece esse processo de composição?
László Páll - Esta questão é bem simples. Nosso baterista, Balázs, é o responsável por escreve-las. As letras normalmente tratam dos segredos humanos, e de seus lados obscuros.
Polêmico Rock - Até hoje, há muita discussão sobre a questão do download de arquivos digitais. Mas a título de exemplo, e em opinião própria, se não fosse pela internet, hoje eu não estaria escutando Sin Of God, e muito menos fazendo esta entrevista. (Nota: Eu amo material original! Apóie as bandas que você gosta!). Então diga-me como a internet têm contribuído para vocês no geral, e se vocês acham que a internet ainda atrapalha a carreira de uma banda.
László Páll - Este é um tópico muito interessante e muito importante. Uma banda do underground realmente necessita da internet para mostrar suas músicas para o mundo, do contrário estaríamos perdidos. Nós achamos que o “Satan Embryo” seria um promo EP, e por isso nós fizemos o upload dele em diversos sites. E isso realmente teve algum real sentido, pois o número de downloads do EP está aumentando cada vez mais. Com isso, nós tem também ganhamos mais visibilidade no MySpace e no Facebook - 100.000 visitas e 1.800 likes respectivamente. Agora nós estamos à procura de uma gravadora e uma agência que trabalhe sério. Mas ainda se tratando das canções na internet, agora que temos uma visibilidade melhor, publicaremos somente duas canções do próximo disco; o restante ficará escondido. A gravadora poderá nos ajudar posteriormente no merchandise e na organização dos shows ao redor do mundo. Mas em suma, e respondendo a sua pergunta: para uma banda que não possui uma gravadora e/ou uma agência, a internet torna-se um elemento absoluto de divulgação do trabalho!
Polêmico Rock - Então pessoal, gostaria que vocês deixassem uma mensagem para os fãs brasileiros, ou para aquelas pessoas que ainda não tiveram a oportunidade de escutar o som matador do Sin Of God!
László Páll - Respeito e saudações ao público brasileiro! É um prazer saber que há pessoas interessadas em nosso trabalho do outro lado do mundo (tanto na América do Sul quanto na América do Norte). As pessoas mais interessadas em nosso som estão nos Estados Unidos, Hungria, Indonésia, México e Brasil. Polêmico Rock - What`s up guys! It`s a real pleasure being here interviewing a Hungarian Death Metal band. So tell me a little about the history of Sin Of God.
László Páll - It is a pleasure to us you asked us to this interview. Sin Of God exsits from 2004. The founders were Balázs Botyánszki (drums), Tamás Páll (bass), Gábor Páll (vocals) and myself László Páll (guitar) in Csongrád county, Hungary
Polêmico Rock - “Satan Embryo” is the first release from Sin Of God, am I right? Tell me about that, and how the public are reacting about it.
László Páll - The truth is... it isn’t. We have a previous demo with 3 songs what was recorded in 2005 in Szeged, Hungary but we didn’t like it’s sound and build so we didn’t offer anyone. Maybe the radio show Gorzone listened to it and they are called us to Budapest to give an interview. "Satan Embryo" was our first release what took us in front of the eyes of people. This EP was born in Gyula at "No Silence" studio with the help of István Simon sound engineer who tried to make us show our best. I think we did it. The truth is we didn’t took the real spreading seriously, neither the cover. We made that. Our first cover wasn’t that snake with skull but a retouched band photo. The EP’s responses started seriously when we published it on "Death Metal Invasion" blog. "Satan Embryo" was the sencond on an internet radio’s called "Chopswalk 911" list for two weeks (2/2024). After two weeks it was in the top 10 for months.
Polêmico Rock - I just loved the cover from “Satan Embryo” (both of them). But I still prefer the red one, with a skull and a snake. Why did you change the cover?
László Páll - There isn’t any special reason why are we changed the cover. The snake with skull version was made by Balázs. When Vöri joined the band we got a very talented graphic designer who created a new logo what is gone around the world already. We sent the EP with the old cover everywhere and saled out in a short time. We thought we need to do something new to associate the cover to satan embryo. That’s why we made a new cover with new logo.
Polêmico Rock - Can we expect a full length from Sin Of God? What are the future plans for the band?
László Páll - The question is very actual. An Austrian label was very interested about us so we decided we’ll record our first LP at "No Silence" studio on February of 2012. We plan we’ll record 10 new songs. We usually play new songs from our upcoming LP on our gigs and there are four more songs what we didn’t play yet. Fortunately, we can tell the LP’s cover will be kick-ass!! Also we aready have it’s title but we won’t tell anything about them until the end of studio works. After when it will be done we’ll send it for many labels not only the Austrian one. An other plan is we really want to have gigs every around the world, to Brazil as well.
Polêmico Rock - What are the influences of Sin Of God? I associated Sin Of God most part with Nile , understand that as a good point.
László Páll - We listen to many kind of music. We have fans in common like Nile , Origin, Necrophagist, Cryptopsy, Dying Fetus. There are more bands only one or two of us like. I really like for example Brain Drill and Suffocation and the Brazilian Krisiun of course. From the new ones I like Turbid North and Benighted. Vöri likes gothic/doom metal as well. Balázs adore Djent music, Szabolcs like Suffocation and Black Metal as well. Maybe the common is we like to listen that kind of music when their members can play very well.
Polêmico Rock - I don’t know about the Hungarian underground, but here it`s a little difficult to live being a musician; but we have a lot of them (laughs). However, we have plenty of good musical stuff here. Tell me a little about the Hungarian underground scene.
László Páll - Musical life in Hungary is really underground. Difficult. Everybody has a job because noone can earn money from playing. We have talented bands but most of them plays metalcore/deathcore and those are only fashion to be honest. There aren’t that many real Death Metal bands unfortunately. A band called Gutted, they are really great for example. Lot of bands aren’t on that acceptable level. The truth is… lot of bands aren’t happy when a band from Hungary started to get "famous”. There isn’t any cooperation. Bigger hungarian booking agencys aren’t intrested about Death Metal music. We have a lot of black metal bands based on the same sample without any meaning in their lyrics. I always look after the brazilian scene as well: Unearthly, Krisiun, old Sepultura and we had a tour with the brazilian Infested Blood in Hungary and in Romania as well!
Polêmico Rock - How it happens the composition process of the Sin Of God`s songs?
László Páll - It is happening in different ways. This was mine and Balázs’ work to do. In most cases i bring a riff and two of us we make the drum under it. If it sounds great we hold it if isn’t we drop it. Few times Balázs brings a drum rythm and i put the guitar on it. Satan Embryo was born from jamming. We didn’t know than it will be out most famous song. After a gig everybody wants "Satan Embryo" for encore. Our song called "Bloodlust" made for a long time because of lot of riffs and beatchanges. Maybe it isn’t done yet.
Polêmico Rock - About the lyrics, how it happens the composition process?
László Páll - The answer is very simple. Balázs, our drummer writes the lyrics. Those are about the secrets of human and dark soul in most cases.
Polêmico Rock - There are a lot of discussion around the internet and about download songs. But for example, if wasn’t the internet existence, I probably would not being listening Sin Of God (and many other bands) at my MP3, going to my job. (note: I love original stuff. Buy it, and support your bands!) So, tell me, this element (internet) have contributed in a good way for the band, or do you think it`s still a problem?
László Páll - Interesting question, but very important. A band from the underground really needs internet to spread their music around the world, without net they could lost. We thought "Satan Embryo" will be a promo EP so we uploaded to different sites and it really worth because day by day the number of downloaders are growing. We also get more like on facebook (it is over 1800 now), our MySpace visiting counter in over 100.000. But we have other plans with the LP. It isn’t a secret, we want to have a contract with a record label and a serious booking agency would be nice behind us. We’ll publish only one or two songs on our pages. The rest of the songs will be hided for a quite long time. A record label isn’t just about spread the CD, they can organize us more gigs around the world and help us in merchandise as well. The answer for your question is: A band what doesn’t have a record label, internet is absolutely helps!
Polêmico Rock - Leave some message to the brazilian fans, and for those who didn`t have the opportunity to listening this killer band!
László Páll - Respect to brazilian fans! It is a pleasure that people from the other side of the world are interested about us (south and north America both). The most people who are interested us is from USA , Hungary , Indonesia , Mexico and Brazil
