Entrevista: Týr

Polêmico Rock: Fala aí galera! É um prazer estar aqui entrevistando o Týr. O álbum “The Lay Of Thrym” apresenta bons e verdadeiros elementos de Folk/Progressive Metal, e também bastante técnica, que acaba fazendo deste álbum, algo realmente bom e único. Me fale mais sobre este mais recente trabalho, e seu ponto de vista.

Heri Joensen: Nós tentamos fazer um trabalho mais direto do que os álbuns anteriores, assim como fizemos da última vez. Nós focamos em letras mais básicas e canções menos progressivas. Apesar do foco ter sido o mesmo do último álbum, acho que desta vez a coisa funcionou melhor, talvez pela melhor escolha do material usado. É difícil dizer precisamente o porquê.

Polêmico Rock: Quais são suas expectativas sobre o Brasil? Eu posso dizer que há muita gente realmente empolgadas com os próximos shows por aqui!

Heri Joensen: Eu realmente não sei o que esperar. Eu espero ter que tocar para muitas pessoas e que as pessoas possam cantar nossa canção junto com a gente. Nenhum de nós nunca estivemos na América do Sul, então nós não sabemos o que realmente esperar. Ainda assim eu estou muito entusiasmado com a viagem e acredito que há muito por vir.

Polêmico Rock: Quais são as bandas mais influentes para vocês? Eu sempre pergunto isso porque é interessante saber, e os fãs gostam de saber. Se eu não estou enganado, um de vocês têm uma tatuagem do CFH (Cowboys From Hell/Pantera) ...

Heri Joensen: Sim, é o Terji, ele é um grande fã de Pantera, e tem uma tatuagem da sigla CFH, Cowboys From Hell. Quanto ao resto de nós, eu sou um grande fã de Judas Priest, e bandas desse tipo, e nós gostamos de Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Savatage, Saga, e muitas outras bandas.

Polêmico Rock: Sobre as letras, eu posso dizer que elas são um tanto ricas. Me diga de onde vem a maior parte da inspiração.

Heri Joensen: Sempre há uma opinião ou ponto de vista na base das letras das canções que eu escrevo. E eu gosto de fazer um paralelo conteporâneo, apesar das letras serem escritas em um universo mitológico. Então, neste álbum por exemplo, eu queria escrever sobre a revolta no Norte da África e no Oriente Médio. Então eu peguei o mito sobre Thrym para representar isso. Thrym representa o tirano, o martelo representa o poder e as armas, e Thor representa os rebeldes.

Polêmico Rock: Deixe uma mensagem para os fãs brasileiros ...

Heri Joensen: Por favor, venham ao nosso show, esperamos muito ver todos vocês lá e estamos muito animados com toda a viagem.

Polêmico Rock: What`s up guys! It`s a pleasure to make an interview with Týr. The record “The Lay Of Thrym” has good elements of a true Folk/Progressive Metal and at the same time a lot of technique that makes a real good and unique record. Tell me more about this recentrly album, and your point of view.

Heri Joensen: We tried to make a more straight forward than some of our previous releases, like we also did last time. We focused on more basic songwriting and less progressive songs. Although the goal was the same, as with the last album, I thik we pulled it off abit better this time, maybe because a more fortunate choice of raw material. It`s hard to say precisely why.

Polêmico Rock: What are your expectations about Brazil? I can say that there are a lot of people getting real exciting about the next three shows in Brazil!

Heri Joensen: I don`t really know what to expect. I hope we get to play in front of many people and that they know our songs e sing along. None of us have ever been to South America before, so we have no real preconception os what to expect. Still, I`m very very excited about the trip and I`m sure that there will be more to come.

Polêmico Rock: What are the most influential bands for you guys? I always ask that because it`s interesting to know anda the fans like that. If I am right, one of you have a tattoo of CFH (Pantera) …

Heri Joensen: Yes, Terji is a great fan of Pantera, and he has a CFH tattoo. As the rest of us, I`m a fan of Judas Priest and bands like that, and we like Dream Theater, Iron Maiden, Metallica, Black Sabbath, Dio, Rainbow, Savatage, Saga, and a lot of other bands.

Polêmico Rock: about the lyrics, I can say that it is a lot rich. Tell me where it comes the inspiration.

Heri Joensen: There`s always some opinion or point of view at the base of the lyrics that I write. And I like to have a contemporary parallel even though the lyrics may be written in a mythological universe. So for this album for example I wanted to write about the uprising in North Africa and the Middle East and I picked the myth about Thrym to represent that. Thrym represents the tyrant, the hammer represents the power and the weapons, and Thor represents the rebels.

Polêmico Rock: Please, leave some message for brazilian fans …

Heri Joensen: Please come to our shows in Brazil. We look very much forward to seeing you there and we are very excited about the whole trip.
